Keys To My Heart

I’m sitting here in my room, wondering about you and our perfect date that was at a quarter t’ll 8.

Time has gone and still no you.

Just hoping you can say, ” At least I’m on my way.”

I start to cry and wonder where you are.

I grab my purse and get in my car to see where you are.

It starts to rain hard and I’m hoping and praying that God protects you wherever you are.

I spot your car not far from where I am.

Quickly! I pull over and get out my car.

My hair is wet, my dress is soaked, my eyes are puffed, and some of my make-up has faded off.

I run to your car to see the matter,

I see you and my whole world shatters.

I call 911 as fast as I can and they come so fast as they said they would.

They tell me you run off the road and ran into a ditch . They tell me you would be ok, but by me seeing you I know better.

I cry some more as they rush you to the hospital,  but it’s too late.

You’re now in a coma and your drift away slowly.

I held your hand and it’s so cold and in your hand lies a key. A picket key of our love that you promise would never fade away.

Keys to memories and moments we shared together.
